The kit is compatible with BMW E36 cars without an adjustable steering column.
On vehicles equipped with steering wheel adjustment, changing the steering wheel position moves the steering column at the firewall, which can lead to interference with the exhaust manifold. For this reason, the safest and recommended solution is to remove the steering wheel adjustment mechanism, if the car is equipped with one.
Installation of the kit requires cutting the left chassis rail where it meets the firewall. A very thick, reinforced steel closing plate is included in the kit and must be welded in place. This modification does not reduce chassis rigidity — on the contrary, due to the thickness and design of the reinforcement plate, the structure is effectively as strong as stock or even stiffer once completed.
Depending on the chosen gearbox, modification of the driveshaft, gearbox mount, and gear leaver may be required. Stock N62 exhaust manifolds fit after a little modification.
